Ideal was established in 1920 to be the largest public-sector manufacturer of white goods in Egypt. In 1997, Ideal was acquired by Olympic Group as part of the privatization process. OG helped transform Ideal to an efficient private- sector company through re-creating a brand image. Currently, Ideal specializes in the production of household appliances for both local & export markets. In terms of turnover, the company's major product is Automatic washing machines, produced under the leading Zanussi license.
