Following the 2007 acquistion of the nat'l bank for development(NBD) that was founded in 1980, the Emirati consortium comprising of Abu Dhabi islamic bank( ADIB), the Emirates int'l investment company acquired of a sizable stake 52% in NBD, & increased the paid-up capital almost seven-fold from EGP 281 million to EGP 2 billion by the end of 2010.
The five-year restructuring process implemented following acquisition covered all aspects of the bank's business including retail banking, wholesale banking, microfinance.
Restructuring also requested modernizing the IT system to provide state-of-the-art solutions to match the needs of Shari.a compliant banking, therefore enabling the bank to provide innovative products & services for customers. renovation the branch network look & feel has substantially improved the customer experience, the bank.s image & resulted in our newly renovated branches being rated on par with the best in the market.
2012 saw ADIB Egypt close the remaining provisions gap on bad debts with the single payment of EGP 745 million and two years ahead of the deadline agreed with the central bank of Egypt, to finally close the issue of non-performing loans acquired at the acquisition & the required annual provisions impacting net Income.
